![]() With Christmas holidays and New Year behind us, we are now focused forward on the 2015 season. Thank-you to all the share members that have reserved their 2015 share. For those still wanting to reserve a share, the early bird prices are valid until February 1st, 2015! You can reserve through our online booking form or by calling us at 519-265-3335. I've nearly finished our crop plan for next year and will be ordering seeds in the next week or two. If anyone has favourite vegetable they would love us to grow, let us know and we will consider it. I'm excited for some cool additions such as tomatillos, okra, ground cherries, and spaghetti squash. And, of course, choosing tomato varieties was great fun and I've managed to whittle it down to 15 varieties or so ;) This winter I have begun volunteering as a regional committee member for the Ecological Farmers of Ontario. As I mentioned in the previous newsletter, we have attended many workshops and events they offer and I look forward to help plan and execute some of these events. Tomorrow I will be attending a "Kitchen Table Meeting" on CSA best practices. Basically, farmers from around Ontario will attend an informal day where we can share ideas and yummy food. Later this week, Rob will be attending a workshop led by soil scientist, Elaine Ingham. He's looking forward to learning more about soil microbiology analysis. Yesterday I was assisting in the facilitation of a Fermenting Foods workshop offered by GroundEd Local in Drayton. They offer many workshops opportunities for people interested in permaculture, gardening, and healthy eating. Be sure to check out their website! |
